Celtic Discovery Itinerary

Days 1-2 - Belfast (Northern Ireland)

Embark your ship in Belfast. The city boasts a hip, art-filled, foodie-scene, a glittering waterfront and welcoming personality. Ornate Victorian homes and grand Edwardian civic buildings line streets, while quaint lanes are dotted with pubs and boutiques dressed with overflowing window boxes and brightly painted doors. Consider a quick trip over the lough, or small bay, to Carrickfergus Castle, the best-preserved Norman castle in Ireland.

Day 3 - Oban (Scotland)

A sleepy fishing village throughout most of the year, Oban (“Little Bay” in Gaelic) explodes with activity in the summer months, renowned for its brilliant seafood, its legendary scotch, and as gateway to the rugged, windswept wonders of the Hebridean archipelago. Journey to the Colosseum-like McCaig’s Tower overlooking the bay for extraordinary views. The Dunollie Castle ruins of Clan MacDougall are nearby, as is Scottish SEA LIFE Sanctuary on Loch Creran.

Day 4 - Kirkwall (Orkney Islands)

A place of contrasts and balance, Kirkwall offers the high points of a large Scottish city – stellar local shopping and impressive historical sites like the St. Magnus Cathedral and ruins of the Bishop’s Palace and Earl’s Palace – as well as the charms of a small village. It is a relatively quiet ferry landing town that is also an excellent example of an ancient Norse settlement, making Kirkwall itself a living museum.

Days 5-6 - Edinburgh (Scotland)

Enjoy an overnight stop during the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Dominated by a medieval castle on a towering crag, Edinburgh is the celebrated capital of Scotland and boasts more than a thousand years of vibrant historical heritage. The Exchange building, the famous Royal Mile featuring St. Giles Cathedral and John Knox House, as well as Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queens official residence in Scotland, are only a few of the architectural masterpieces found in this delightful Scottish city.

Day 7 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board during a day at sea.

Day 8 - Dover (England)

Disembark your ship in Dover.
