Bangkok to Bali and Beyond Itinerary

Day 1 - UK - Bangkok (Thailand)

Fly from the UK to Bangkok.

Days 2-3 - Bangkok

Embark Viking Orion in Bangkok, beautifully set on the Chao Phraya River. Join the panoramic tour to see the Grand Palace, Wat Arun temple and the colourful flower market. See the city in more depth on an optional overnight excursion with a cruise along the Chao Phraya River, a trip to see the enormous Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho including a tuk-tuk ride.

Days 4-5 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on relaxing days at sea.

Day 6 - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

Journey to Kuala Lumpur for a panoramic tour past the city's famous landmarks including the National Museum, the elegant 1910 Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and the towering Petronas Towers. An optional tour gives a taste of Malay culture with tea and traditional cakes at an authentic village home, visit a Mah Meri cultural village and enjoy a ritual dance, or discover Putrajaya, an oasis south of Kuala Lumpur.

Day 7 - Singapore

The city-state of Singapore was established in 1819 by Sir Stamford Raffles, after whom Singapore's famous hotel is named. The guided tour passes through the Colonial District, Little India, the Arab Quarter and Chinatown. Various optional tours explore the city by boat, trishaw, coach and subway and there is the chance to learn about the Chinese art of feng shui. Nature lovers can visit the modern Gardens by the Bay or discover the 5,000 exotic birds at Jurong Bird Park.

Day 8 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Days 9-10 - Jakarta (Java)

Jakarta is the colourful capital of Indonesia and an overnight stay here allows plenty of time to discover its many attractions. The guided city tour passes the stunning marble National Monument and visits the Sarinah Thamrin Plaza shopping centre, the National History Museum and the Wayang Museum which is dedicated to Indonesia's shadow puppetry.

Day 11 - Semarang

Explore the Javanese, Chinese, Dutch and Indian heritage of Semarang on a guided tour of the city. See the Great Mosque of Java, the unique Chinese Muslim Sam Po Kung temple, the 18th-century Dome Church and the historic Old Town. Alternatively, enjoy a vintage rail journey to a local coffee plantation, see the world's largest Buddhist temple at Borobudur or explore the historic Gedong Songo temple complex and perhaps take a dip in the hot sulphur springs.

Day 12 - Surabaya

Discover Surabaya, which was central to the Indonesian War of Independence, on a panoramic tour. See the Heroes Monument, colourful Chinatown and the Surumadu Bridge and pass beautiful temples, churches and mosques which reflect the city's Arab and European influences.

Day 13 - At sea

Enjoy the ship's facilities on a relaxing day at sea.

Day 14 - Bali (Indonesia) - UK

Disembark Viking Orion in Bali and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Day 15 - UK

Arrive back in the UK.

For navigational reasons the Captain of the ship reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary. On the Bali - Bangkok itinerary you will arrive in the UK on Day 14 as the return flight from Bangkok arrives the same day.
